It finished one-a-piece in the second episode of Outlaws v Pirates in an eventful game at Kennington.
The Outlaws went ahead after Barney Waugh smashed the post from a short corner, only for seasoned goal poacher Will Heaton (Plodders) to tap in a rebound from 12 inches. 1-0.
But they didn’t lead for the long, with the Pirates netting only two minutes later. Fair to say that Plodders was livid. 1-1.
After getting a bit of momentum, the Pirates thought they had scored again – and there were more than a few fist pumps around Kennington – only to find out the ball had gone through the side netting.
They were unlucky when Vaughan Robertson dramatically hit a beautiful cover drive off the goal line (one that Andrew Flintoff would be proud of) to save a certain goal. Man of the match moment for him.
It was then the Outlaws’ turn to get a bit of a head of steam, with a charging counter attack which led to Barney smashing the bar. Unlucky, Barney.
Both teams had number of chances. The Outlaws nearly got lucky when Pirates’ Paul Mumford (Slider) appeared to have tripped over his own feet and taking a comical tumble, only for the Outlaws to mess up another glorious opportunity.
Fair result in the end!
