The Ladies 2s had a tough weekend with a double header – On Saturday vs Barnes 1s and Sunday vs Amersham and Chalfont Ladies 1s. The results didn’t go our way for either but we didn’t half give it a good try!
The Barnes game, was an early start but the cockles of our hearts were warmed by Digger’s inspiring pre-match talk. Despite solid saves by Lenny in goal, the final whistle blew at 3-0 but it was one of those games where the score didn’t reflect the play or determination.
Sunday’s game was a different story:
- It was freezing cold
- It was a cup game
With the weather crisp, we walked onto the Crystal Palace pitch ready to take on Amersham and Chalfont with Jody by our side! After going one nil down (to a goal that soared over all the defenders heads) we fought back (with a few cards along the way…)!
With 2 minutes left, a short corner was given our way and Saskia hit the backboard! We moved into penalty flicks. With Ways and Amersham lining up, it all came down to the final flick.
After a very well battled game showing serious gumption, the result didn’t go our way.
The weekend showed some great performances across the board from Emma and Tori (coming up from the 3s) getting MOM across the weekend but all girls deserve a pat on the back for their commitment in both games!
