We need you!
Are you looking to meet new people, give back to hockey and the wider hockey community, become part of the hockey family and/or broaden your personal skills and experiences? London Wayfarers Hockey Club continues to thrive thanks to all the volunteers that do so much work in the background. We are truly grateful to all members, parents and others who help with coaching, umpiring and committee work.
We hope that our members will embrace the club’s ethos by donating your time and skills to help teams, especially our juniors, enjoy the best possible hockey experience. However, we would also be keen to hear from people outside of the club who may be interested in getting involved.
We have a wide variety of roles available (both on and off pitch) ranging from administrative support to team managers or captains, coaching, umpiring and of course, as one of the many committee roles. A number of these do not require any hockey experience. Some of our parents are more comfortable on pitch, helping coach the tiddlers, while others prefer to get involved off pitch in a range of ways and may have professional skills that could be put to use – from helping with the newsletters to baking cakes for hockey events, assisting with sponsorship applications, marketing or providing technology support. It’s up to you!
In this spirit, we also ask our senior teams to help the junior section and vice versa resulting in senior players turning out on Sundays to support with coaching, showing off their skills or umpire junior matches. In return, we see our older juniors perform ball patrol duties at our first team matches, umpiring senior fixtures or coaching themselves with our younger members and/or Flyerz programme.
